Inya Economics: Photo Essay Competition 2023
The photo essay competition with the theme “Economic Injustice Exposed: Uncovering Myanmar’s Economic Realities Through Photography” is being led by the Youth Development Program of Inya Economics. This program is dedicated to promoting economic development and social progress in Myanmar, particularly among youth.
As part of this effort, the photo essay competition aims to raise awareness about the economic challenges faced by the people of Myanmar and to encourage a dialogue about the need for greater economic equality and justice. Through the medium of photography, the competition provides a platform for young photographers to showcase their talents and highlight important issues affecting their communities.
The Youth Development Program of Inya Economics believes that investing in the potential of young people is crucial to building a brighter future for Myanmar. By offering opportunities for young people to develop their skills and engage in social and economic issues, the program aims to create a generation of leaders who are committed to making a positive difference in their communities and beyond.
Certainly, here are the essential rules for our photo essay competition:

- Eligibility: The competition is open to all photographers, regardless of their level of expertise or geographic location.
- Theme: The theme of the competition is “Economic Injustice Exposed: Uncovering Myanmar’s Economic Realities Through Photography”. Participants are encouraged to submit a photo essay that uncovers the economic challenges and inequalities faced by the people of Myanmar, including but not limited to poverty, unemployment, unequal distribution of wealth, and lack of access to education and basic services.
- Submission Format: Each participant may submit one photo with photo essay. The images must be original and must not have been previously published or exhibited.
- Submission Guidelines: Participants must submit their photo essay in digital format through our online submission portal. - Judging Criteria: Entries will be judged based on their originality, artistic merit, storytelling, and relevance to the theme. The judges’ decision is final and binding.
- Deadline: The deadline for submitting entries is April 30, 2023, at 11:59 pm MMT.
- Prizes: The first-place winner will receive a cash prize of 50,000MMK, while the second and third place winners will receive 30,000MMK and 20,000MMK, respectively. Additionally, the winning entries will be featured on our website and social media channels.
- Copyright: Participants retain the copyright to their images. However, by submitting their entries, participants grant us the right to publish and exhibit their images for promotional purposes.
