Organization Background

Inya Economics, a research organization, was founded in 2017. It is designed for economic policy discussion and economics research which are envisioned to the economic interest group.

Description Program Intern Position

Inya Economics has been conducting Private Sector Development projects and 2021 coup impact on business sectors which will focus on the project across the country by targeting different groups in gender, MSMEs, and service sectors. Therefore, the main projects that interns have to work on are the Myanmar Business Insight Report (MBIR) and Coup impact on Business in Myanmar. MBIR is mainly focused on the business in Myanmar with its functions and challenges. MBIR series 1 has already been published focusing on the agriculture sectors. Therefore, the intern will continue to work on MBIR series 1 for translation and series 2 for support in report writing. Another project is the 2021 Coup impacts on business with three different parts focusing on the women-led MSMEs, the role of leadership, and start-up business, moreover, the most taxpayer companies will be targeted in the interview. Therefore, the intern must work on these research projects relating to the current issues, challenges, and related research assignments along with the changes of Myanmar.

Responsibilities

  • Collect data primary and secondary approach, field visit if needed 
  • Data entry 
  • Fulfill tasks and urgent activities set out by line managers and supervisors
  • Perform other research by the supervisors as necessary 
  • Attend meetings and take minutes 
  • Translations

Education:

  • Any undergraduate university student and graduate students whose specializations are Economics, Management, Business, Marketing, Finance, and other relevant social science degrees

Required skills/ Experience:

  • Research and analytical skills 
  • Language proficiency (English and Burmese)
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills 
  • Proficiency in Microsoft products 
  • Eager to learn and work with different teammates 
  • Ability to multitask
  • Cope well under pressure 

 Hours of work

Interns have to be able to work 180 hours in total working time (60 hours per month). The interns have to be able to attend the meeting and training which is provided by Inya Economics. (Training and meeting hours will not be calculated in the working hours).
